This workshop is offered in Bangalow through the Kindred Women Together initiative. • The role of place in shaping and reflecting character
  • The interplay between hope, fear and desire
  • The imperative of creativity

morning tea.
Places are strictly limited. Once registered, you will be emailed a welcome letter and an outline of the workshop.
And just in case you’re wondering – Larunda was a naiad nymph In Ovid’s Fasti (a six book Latin poem he wrote over 2,000 years ago)). She was a beautiful and very talkative nymph who fell out with a couple of characters (most notably the god Jupiter, after she told his wife that he was having an affair). Long story short, Jupiter ordered Larunda’s tongue be cut out and that she be sent to the Underworld as punishment….

Re Write Your Story

We each have core narratives we carry within us, stories that trace the arc of our lives and define who we are. But what if we’re more than the combined total of our collected stories? And what if we could rewrite the stories which brought us here, and then use those stories to cast a richer future?
This short course of six workshops will focus on both the fundamentals of creative writing and power of internalised stories. Participants will learn how to use the stories of their own lives as the basis from which to shape credible characters, build tension, and develop narrative arcs that are captivating and transformative. They will also learn how to edit and polish their work, using the drafting process to build skills, confidence, and resilience. These workshops will focus on the joy of writing and the power of stories.
When: 6 workshops online workshops - each workshop is 2 hrs long

How to edit your manuscript -
Tips and tricks

This series of workshops came about as a result of consistent demand from new and emerging authors keen to learn the most effective way to improve their manuscripts. The initial draft is done, they'd announce - and now what?
This series consists of five workshops in total, each dealing with a specific aspect of the assessment and editorial process. Participants can select to participate in only one workshop, a select few, or all five (although the more workshops you undertake, the better the value).
More than a decade of assessing manuscripts and working one-to-one with over a hundred writers to improve their work has gone into developing this series of workshops. Each is full of practical information, simple strategies, helpful tips, and thorough techniques for not only improving the work you've completed so far, but for ensuring that each subsequent manuscript benefits from the skills and confidence developed.

Healing through Writing

Healing through Writing is as much a perspective as it is a process. Based on decades of research into trauma, survival, and healing, and the way language and writing aid our ability to contextualise and articulate painful experiences, the Healing through Writing program has been developed by myself and author Jessie Cole and is dedicated to helping writers (new and established) give voice to their stories and move forward from trauma.
Offered across a range of platforms - from in-person full-day, weekend, and five-day workshops, to online writing groups and one-to-one mentorships - Healing through Trauma is an initiative born of a love of writing and a passionate belief in the healing power of language.
