HSC Workshop - Ext 2 English: Wed 27 March 2019
This full-day workshop is designed to provide students with the tools necessary to develop, enhance, and polish their Ext 2 English Major Works in preparation for final submission in August. Students will learn how to assess their creative works-in-progress for thematic sophistication, textual integrity, and narrative drive, as well as considering their final Reflection Statement and ensuring it meets – and then exceeds – the marking criteria.
Students will explore the editorial process and learn how to undertake a Four Stage Editing Protocol, looking at overall structure, characterisation and setting, and dramatisation and exposition. They will also examine their works in progress to assess viewpoint, perspective and time shifts, and learn how to embed literary techniques such as symbolism, motifs, metaphor, intertextuality, and foreshadowing (even retrospectively).
When: Wednesday 27 March, 9.30am – 2.30pm
Where: Ewingsdale Hall, William Flick Ln, Ewingsdale.
Cost: FREE (Thanks to the Byron Writers Festival's Storyboard program)

Healing through Writing
Healing through Writing is as much a perspective as it is a process. Based on decades of research into trauma, survival, and healing, and the way language and writing aid our ability to contextualise and articulate painful experiences, the Healing through Writing program has been developed by myself and author Jessie Cole and is dedicated to helping writers (new and established) give voice to their stories and move forward from trauma.
Offered across a range of platforms - from in-person full-day, weekend, and five-day workshops, to online writing groups and one-to-one mentorships - Healing through Trauma is an initiative born of a love of writing and a passionate belief in the healing power of language.
Workshops dates for 2019 are currently being finalised and will be published as soon as possible. If you would like to find out more, please visit the Healing through Writing page and complete the contact form.
